The Expeditions Mode can be accessed from the Main Menu at any given moment, although it is in your best interest to only do so after you have cleared the story at least once as the chapters are unlocked as you progress in the campaign. Whether or not they're a more suitable addition to the Tomb Raider experience is up to you.
